If you are recently saved, here are some tips to get you off to a good start.

1. Get Baptized if you haven't already.

2. Spend time daily reading Gods Word (the Bible).

3. Talk to God (pray), he wants to hear from you, he loves you.

4. Find a good church that teaches Gods Word & commit to going faithfully & get involved.

5. Find a mentor, someone who can answer your questions & support you & inspire you to live for God

6. Strive to be more like Jesus every day until our time on this earth is thru.

7. You will probably need to make some major changes in your life, i.e. you might need to lose some friends.

Let's discuss those in more detail.

2. Spend time daily reading Gods Word.

Psalm 119:11 I have hidden your word in my heart, that I might not sin against you.

Psalm 119:105 Your word is a lamp for my feet and a light for my path.

2 Timothy 3:16 All Scripture is inspired by God and is useful to teach us what is true and to make us realize what is wrong in our lives. It straightens us out and teaches us to do what is right.

2 Timothy 2:15 Study to show thyself approved unto God, a workman that need not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.

God's word is true, if God can create everything that exists in 6 literal days, I believe he can protect his word even thou there are some corrupt translations they are obviously corrupt if you study them.

A Lot of people want to start reading the Bible either at revelation or Genesis, but I recommend you start at John 1:1 & read thru Jude then go read Matthew, Mark & Luke before you go to Genesis. The New Testament is important because we're under the new covenant, so the New Testament is the information we need to live as God wants us to.

3. Talk to God (pray), he wants to hear from you, he loves you.

1 Peter 4:7 The end of the world is coming soon. Therefore, be earnest and disciplined in your prayers.

And try not to use God for your heavenly shopping cart, try to avoid all of the "Dear Lord I need" or "Lord give me."

Matthew 6:31 "So don't worry about having enough food or drink or clothing. 32 Why be like the pagans who are so deeply concerned about these things? Your heavenly Father already knows all your needs, 33 and he will give you all you need from day to day if you live for him and make the Kingdom of God your primary concern. 34 "So don't worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will bring its own worries. Today's trouble is enough for today.

But on the other hand, he says we have not because we ask not, so if you are in need don't be afraid to ask him.

4. Find a good church that teaches Gods Word & commit to going faithfully & get involved.

Romans 10:17 Yet faith comes from listening to this message of good news, the Good News about Christ.

Hebrews 10:25 And let us not neglect our meeting together, as some people do, but encourage and warn each other, especially now that the day of his coming back again is drawing near.

When I look back over my life, the times that my spiritual life suffered the most was times when I wasn't faithful with attending Church. I believe it is especially important in the times we're living in; we need to stay connected to God & stay focused because there are all kinds of distractions out there.

Also, find a mentor, someone who can answer your questions & support you & inspire you to live for God.

Romans 15:14 I am fully convinced, dear brothers and sisters, that you are full of goodness. You know these things so well that you are able to teach others all about them.

Titus 2:2 Teach the older men to exercise self-control, to be worthy of respect, and to live wisely. They must have strong faith and be filled with love and patience. 3 Similarly, teach the older women to live in a way that is appropriate for someone serving the Lord. They must not go around speaking evil of others and must not be heavy drinkers. Instead, they should teach others what is good. 4 These older women must train the younger women to love their husbands and their children, 5 to live wisely and be pure, to take care of their homes, to do good, and to be submissive to their husbands. Then they will not bring shame on the word of God. 6 In the same way, encourage the young men to live wisely in all they do. 7 And you yourself must be an example to them by doing good deeds of every kind. Let everything you do reflect the integrity and seriousness of your teaching.

I know that Jesus is our example, but to see someone like us, that is able to be an ambassador for Christ & allow us to see a glimpse of Christ, makes such a difference in our Christian walk.

6. Strive to be more like Jesus every day until our time on this earth is thru.

Jesus is our example; the bible shows us clearly that Jesus lived a sinless life that he loved people & he loved God our father. We will never be perfect, but we should strive to get as close as possible.

Ephesians 4:15 Instead, we will hold to the truth in love, becoming more and more in every way like Christ, who is the head of his body, the church.

2 Corinthians 3:18 And all of us have had that veil removed so that we can be mirrors that brightly reflect the glory of the Lord. And as the Spirit of the Lord works within us, we become more and more like him and reflect his glory even more.

Ephesians 5:2 Live a life filled with love for others, following the example of Christ, who loved you and gave himself as a sacrifice to take away your sins. And God was pleased, because that sacrifice was like sweet perfume to him.

Colossians 3:17 And whatever you do or say, let it be as a representative of the Lord Jesus, all the while giving thanks through him to God the Father.

1 John 2:6 Those who say they live in God should live their lives as Christ did.

1 John 4:17 And as we live in God, our love grows more perfect so we will not be afraid on the day of judgment, but we can face him with confidence because we are like Christ here in this world. 18 Such love has no fear because perfect love expels all fear. If we are afraid, it is for fear of judgment, and this shows that his love has not been perfected in us.

I had to include all of those, they are all too good to leave out, there are even more but those seemed to get the point across.

7. You will probably need to make some major changes in your life, i.e. you might need to lose some friends.

Some people are detrimental to our relationship with God & our walk with God. Some places we like to go to might be a temptation for us to return to our old way of life. Some habits may be contrary to the lifestyle that God expects for us. Some music or movies or books might portray a lifestyle that contrary to the moral life God wants for us.

Matthew 18:8 So if your hand or foot causes you to sin, cut it off and throw it away. It is better to enter heaven crippled or lame than to be thrown into the unquenchable fire with both of your hands and feet. And if your eye causes you to sin, gouge it out and throw it away. It is better to enter heaven half blind than to have two eyes and be thrown into hell.

A Lot of times we need to make radical changes in our life to become what God wants us to be & to get into Heaven.

1 Peter 4:3 You have had enough in the past of the evil things that godless people enjoy, their immorality and lust, their feasting and drunkenness and wild parties, and their terrible worship of idols. Of course, your former friends are very surprised when you no longer join them in the wicked things they do, and they say evil things about you. But just remember that they will have to face God, who will judge everyone, both the living and the dead.

1 John 3:8 But when people keep on sinning, it shows they belong to the Devil, who has been sinning since the beginning. But the Son of God came to destroy these works of the Devil. Those who have been born into God's family do not sin, because God's life is in them, so they can't keep on sinning, because they have been born of God.

Always remember heaven will be worth anything we give up getting there.
